Poems & Reflections
When it comes to talking about the death of a child, no one knows what the "right" thing to say is. I can guarantee you one thing though, NOT SAYING A WORD is worse for the grieving family.
Take this time to reach out to someone who is missing their child. You will see MANY of us posting about the facts, our children and what you can do as a friend/family member to raise awareness. I am one of those parents and I have lost precious babies. Please do not skip over those posts when you see them. Parents need to know that THIS campaign is as important as any other one out there. Remembering ALL the children who died too soon.
Charlotte and Caderyn
By Georgina Horton-Jones (Mummy)
It's been two years since you left,
Why did you have to leave?
My arms have yearned to hold you both,
My heart aches, it's hard to breathe.
Everyday I talk to you,
I hope you hear my cries.
Mummy misses you so much,
A part of me has died.
You blessed us with Isabella,
I thank you both for that.
She has been my shining light,
In the dark lonely nights.
I wish you could be here with me,
Crawling all around,
Getting under my feet,
Oh the joys we would have found.
But instead God chose to raise you,
Up in the heaven above.
I hope he tells you that
You'll always have mummy's love!
Dear Mommy
In Loving Memory of Charlotte & Caderyn
Mommy did you think of me today?
Mommy did you cry?
Mommy I know that it is hard for you
And can't understand why.
Mommy please don't be angry with God,
It was time for me to leave.
I know that there are questions
And answers you can't believe.
But know mommy that I'm okay
And never left your side.
Do you hear the things I say?
Can you find the things I hide?
The only thing I cannot take away
Is the pain that your heart feels,
So I asked the Lord for just one wish
To help your heart to heal.
He told me to think carefully
About what I could say or do,
To show how much you mean to me
And how much I miss you too.
I thought of all the little things
That used to make us laugh,
I thought of all the prayers you have
Just to have me back.
I knew just what my wish would be,
It was there in front of me.
A beautiful Dove God gave to me
To show me of his love.
I whispered to the dove,
I told him how to find you.
I placed him on a rainbow
So mommy when you think of me,
And cannot bear the pain,
Look for the gift I sent to you
And allow my memory to remain.
I am in every laugh you have,
In every hug you share.
I am the one who knows your soul
And want you mommy to let go.
Take with you the memories
Of the life you made,
And remember I never meant to
Cause you so much pain.
So when you need to feel my touch
Or to know that I'm still there,
Find the gift I sent from above
And see in it all my love.
When you see a feather on the ground
Know that I am still around.
We’ll Be There
Daddy please don't look so sad
mummy please don't cry
cause we are here in the arms of the angels
they sing us lullabies
please try not to question the angels
don't think they're unkind
don't think they sent us to you
and then changed their minds
you see we are special babies
and we are needed up above
We are the special gifts you gave to them
the products of your love
we’ll always be there with you
watch the sky at night
find the brightest star that’s gleaming
that’s our halo's brilliant light
you'll see us in the morning frost
that mists your window pane
that’s us in the summer showers
we’ll be dancing in the rain
when you feel a little breeze
from a gentle wind that blows
that’s us, we’ll be there
planting a kiss on your nose
when you see kids playing
and your heart feels a tug
that’s us we’ll be there
giving your heart a hug
so daddy please don't look so sad
mummy please don't cry
we’re in the arms of the angels
and they sing us lullabies
Tiny Footprints
These are my footprints, so perfect and so small.
These tiny footprints, never touched the ground at all.
Not one tiny footprint, for now I have my wings.
These tiny footprints were meant for other things.
You will hear my tiny footprints, in the patter of the rain.
Gentle drops like angel tears, of joy and not from pain.
You will see my tiny footprints, in each butterfly's lazy dance.
I'll let you know I'm with you, if you give me just a chance.
You will see my tiny footprints, in the rustle of the leaves.
I will whisper names into the wind, and call each one that grieves.
Most of all, these tiny footprints, are found in Mummy's heart
Because even though I'm gone now, we'll never truly part.
Don't Cry for Me Daddy
One for the dads who at times often get forgotten about, people ask how we are without acknowledging that they are grieving too.
Don't cry for me daddy,
I'm right here.
Aunque you can't see me
I see your tears.
I visit you often,
I go to work with you each day,
And when it's time for you
to close your eyes,
On your pillow is where I lay.
I hold your hand and
stroke your hair,
And whisper in your ear.
If you're sad today daddy,
Remember, I am here.
God took me home.
This we know is true.
But you'll always be my daddy,
Even though I'm not with you.
We will never be apart,
For everytime you think of me,
Please know I'm in your heart.
Dads Hurt Too
People don't always see the tears a dad cries,
His heart is broken too when his child dies.
He feels he has to be strong for others,
But Dads hurt too, not just the Mothers.
He tries to hold it together and be strong,
Even though his world's gone wrong.
He searches for answers but none are to be found,
He hides behind a mask when he is feeling down.
He holds his wife as her tears fall,
Comforts her through it all,
He smiles through his tears,
He struggles and holds in his fears.
He goes through his day doing what he's supposed to do,
But a piece of his heart has been ripped away too.
But what you see on the outside is not always real,
Men don't always show how they really feel.
So when he's alone he lets out his pain,
And his tears come like falling rain.
So I'd like to ask a favor of you,
The next time you see a mother hurting over the loss of her child,
His world has crashed in around him,
And a world that was once bright, has gone dim.
Please remember.....Dads Hurt Too
Little Snowdrop
The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn't bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
The little one we long for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we do love you.
Memories of our Little One at Christmas
Does heaven have a Christmas tree
For the little girls and boys
Too far away for Santa's sleigh
To reach with treats and toys?
A tree that's hung with moonbeams, stars
And real, shining angel hair
For the precious little children
Who all live in heaven's care?
And are you filled with wonder
At its branches, all aglow
With the tears of those who miss you
On this earth, far down below?
For we hope and pray you're playing
With the angels, having fun
But please don't forget, we love you

Angel Of My Tears
Author Unknown
How do you love a person
Who never got to be?
Or try to envision a face
You never got to see?
How do you mourn the death of one
Who never got to live?
When there's nothing to feel good about
And nothing to forgive?
I love you, my little baby,
My companion of the night.
Wandering through my lonely hours,
Beautiful and bright.
I love you, my little baby,
Just as if you'd lived for years.
No more, no less, I think of you,
The angel of my tears.
My Angel Up In Heaven
By Dave Hedges
My angel up in heaven, I wanted you to know,
I feel you watching over me, everywhere I go.
I wish you were with me, but that can never be.
Memories of you in my heart, that only I can see.
My angel up in heaven, I hope you understand,
That I would give anything, if I could hold your hand.
To hold you oh so tightly, and never let you go,
And all the love inside of me, to you would show.
My angel up in heaven, for now we are apart,
You'll always live inside of me, deep within my heart.
It's Okay
By Scribbles & Crumbs
It's okay.
It's okay to miss them.
It's okay to say their name.
It's okay to cry.
It's okay to laugh.
It's okay to breathe deeply.
It's okay to smile when you think of them.
It's okay to function.
It's okay to have days where you can't function.
It's okay to be angry.
It's okay to be thankful.
It's okay to love again.
It's okay to remember.
It's okay to hope.
It's okay to be honest.
It's okay to trust again.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
When You Feel Lonely
Author Unknown
When a person you love passes away
Look to the night sky on a clear day.
The star that to you, appears to be bright,
Will be your loved one, Looking upon you during the night.
The lights of heaven are what shows through
As your loved one watches all that you do.
When you feel lonely for the one that you love,
Look to the Heavens in the night sky above.
On Time and Grief
By Zoe Clark-Coates (sayinggoodbye.org)
People may say to you 'but your loss was years ago why are you still hurting?' but you know what? Grief doesn't have a time limit...your broken heart doesn't care if it's been months, years or centuries.
Grief is a journey, a scary voyage into the unknown... a celebration of love, whilst swimming through a river of tears, and you, only you, control the route you travel.
